Western University Gala and
Honors Day Ceremony
Western University of Health Sciences
has also been active, organizing a 30th
anniversary event to commemorate
its founding and honoring students
for their achievements. Dean Sunil
Prabhu, Western faculty and students,
representatives of area universities
and colleges of pharmacy, donors, and
benefactors gathered at the Taglyan
Complex in Los Angeles, to mark the
anniversary.
The Honors Day Ceremony took place
on April 9 in the Health Professions
Center Amphitheater 2 on the Western
campus in Pomona. Two pharmacy
students received scholarship awards
from the Vietnamese Pharmacists
Association-USA. These recognize
students who demonstrate outstanding
service and leadership to the
community, the university, and
academic or professional societies.
Andrew Nguyen and Teresa Tran’s
essays were excellent. Their topics are
great, and show aspects of health and
wellness that have not been discussed
recently, especially Teresa’s essay on
Pap smears acceptance as a preventive
approach in the community.
Congratulations also go to Dr. Micah
Hata as Teacher of the Year, and all
other College of Pharmacy faculty
preceptors for their excellence
in teaching students during their
clerkships.
